Main Responsiblities

As Administration Officer, Jeanne is responsible for the overall management and general functioning of the Survey Action Center office. She acts as the Human Resources Officer for SAC, administering the benefits program, coordinating annual performance reviews, revising SAC’s employee policies and procedures and field manual as needed, interpreting policies to staff, handling recruitment, and preparing contracts and employment agreements for U.S. and overseas staff. She is SAC’s liaison with the landlord and vendors, and monitors contracts for office equipment.

Background

Jeanne is a veteran attorney with over 12 years of experience practicing law in California and New Mexico. She has an extensive background in both business law and litigation, with an emphasis on employment and insurance issues. She has also practiced maritime law on the San Francisco waterfront and been in-house counsel to a large nonprofit hospital system in California. Along the way, she worked as a union organizer for migrant farm workers and has been an active community volunteer for several environmental groups.

Education

Jeanne received her undergraduate degree in botany from the University of California, Berkley, and her J.D. from the John F. Kennedy University School of Law in California.

She is married to Chuck Milligan. They have two children, ages 12 and 10. In her spare time, she is writing a book on biocolonialism and the patenting of genetically engineered food. She is an insane gardener.
